Empangan Kenyir (Kenyir Dam) - 30 Januari 2017

Well known as largest man-made lake in South East Asia, Kenyir Lake situated in Hulu Terengganu is almost the size of Singapore. Main purposed of its development is for generating electrical supply in the country. The dam was setup in 1978 and completed in 1986.

It started to run in 1987 and in 1988 officially launched by Terengganu Sultan at that time, Almarhum Sultan Mahmud Al-Mutakfi Billah Shah.

In detail, please refer to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kenyir_Lake.

I am not focusing to the history and any mystic of Kenyir Lake. I am focusing to the beauty that belong to this lake. Yeah, it is man-made. And many villages lost their existence due to it.

What is lost, is lost but what is coming, still in existence.

Kenyir Lake become a new spot for fisher. But bear in mind, only traditional fisherman is allowed here. Come here with fishing rod is okay, rent a boat house or maybe a boat for fishing activity.

To fishing, the only entrance to Kenyir Lake is Pangkalan Gawi which situated on different location of Kenyir Lake. Here, the location of my photo shot, you are not allowed to enter Kenyir Lake because the main activity of this location is generating electrical supply for the country and lot of accidents occurred due to misbehave visitors.

Since then, no local without authorities are allowed to the area. The entrance is under TNB monitoring and authorities.

Today, me and my family decided to enjoy waterfall nearby Kenyir Dam. Even though raining is keep falling all day, planning must go on as planned. Some of us decide to fish while the rest want to enjoy waterfall.

The water such like refrigerated water, extremely cool. Well, we are Malaysians, when we attached to something below 18 degree Celsius, especially water for bathing, it is something such scary ever.

Rains keep falling and falling...

I chose to fish. But when I was seeing that the dam out flow water seem white; it means that water is heavily running out and will effected the current of the river, I realized that the chances for catching the fish will nearly "NO CHANCE".

And as we get closed to the river bank, the current was extremely hard. I wonder how could fish could stand to fight it.
This picture snapped from my fishing spot. There, over the huge rocks is the waterfall and only watery during raining.

Actually, it also one of the dam water release system. So, that is why only on raining season you may enjoy the water fall.
See the current?

For quite long time and my waiting for fish no longer a worthwhile, I went to waterfall and enjoy it.

It is cold and some of us shaky but still we did not want to miss it. At the middle of our excitement, the gate keeper (refer to Police officer who guard the dam entrance) came and advised us to leave the waterfall since the amount of water increasing drastically and he is aware of the possibility for "overflowing water volume" which extremely dangerous to visitors.

Do not want to joke with the any risks, we went down, enjoy our meals and returned home.
